What the heck??

55 gallon cycled, all water parameters within normal limits.
9" Oscar, 11" common Pleco.

Just did a 25% water change with all my usual equipment and h20 from my home. Conditioned.

ALL OF A SUDDEN these white flakes started snowing ALL over the tank. They almost look like plastic?? I do have some new fake plants but they have been in there for a couple weeks.

As of right now, the pieces are settling to the bottom or getting picked up by the filter. I worry about the fish eating them while picking on the bottom of the tank.

Anyone see anything like this before??

I have a video which shows it so much better but I can't figure out how to upload it. ?

Figured it out

All right guys after a lot of investigating I ended up taking everything out of the aquarium and testing my faucet water to see if there was any calcification in there or if it was something coming from the gravel or plants. I knew it was not bacterial growth, leftover food, or a cycling issue. I finally figured out that it was coming from the new plastic plants that I had put in a couple weeks ago. They decided to start shedding whatever coating was on them. Gross! I ended up having to do a 75% water change and filter media rinse and change just to get rid of all the plastics swimming around in the water. I'll probably be throwing the plants away. I'm going to see if I can scrub all the debris off but I have a feeling that will not be the answer. Ugh!
Poor fish are in an empty tank at the moment but I feel better that they have clean water and the rest can cycle out for a day or so.
