May just be biofilm or some type of algae..
I've never had anything like that so I am not sure...
Do you have any snails in your tank??
They love that stuff.
And I loooove my mystery snail I have and he keeps all the algae and biofilm eaten! :)
Sorry I am not much help!
Hopefully somebody else will know more on this!

Here is a scary sight, new DW looked dreadful. 2 good sized mystery snails cleaned it right up it is normal but gross.

It was like gel. You could scrub it off.

Yes! I agree!
Having snails in my tank has made this a non issue for me! :)
Maybe consider a snail?
Mystery snails are WONDERFUL!!
and very fun to watch, honestly! I adore mine!

Best of luck to you! And hope you're able to solve your problem!

It’s completely normal for driftwood. Harmless to fish but non aesthetically appealing. Just scrub it off with a brush and put it back in if you don’t want it there [emoji106].
