Who says you can not do this?

That is have two different kinds of schooling fish in a small tank.

This is my 10 gallon tank with Neon Tetras and Harlequin Rasboras. They basically each have their own level to hang out and get along great together.

Yes, they occasionally intermingle but in a completely non threatening manor ..
