He shimmies at the bottom when he is not doing that. He will occasionally snap out of it to eat. But then it's back to the shimmying/vertical swimming/irregular behavior.

I have a black Molly in there too. She is 100% healthy. The water conditions are A-OK. No issues. 5 gallon Hex tank.

What is the problem?
Constipation? Imminent death?

Hi!
How long has he been swimming like that? A few days or weeks? He might be trying to get the attention of the female... or yes he might be constipated.
Time will tell

I have no idea if it is constipation but if it is, I think I recall someone here saying that crushed pea helps. Peel a common fresh sweet pea, smoosh it up and feed some to your fish. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try. He's either going to eat it or he is not.

Well, he's dead. lol :(

Thanks anyway.

Time for a new male Molly. Hmm, what color...
