Why replace 1/2 BioMax?

I have heard suggestions to bleach ceramic filter media to burn off any residue that is clogging the pores. I'm not sure how well it works but there are ways to test.

How would you test out of interest? I guess they would look like new or something?

The amount of water it holds would be my first guess at a test. Clogged up holes wouldnt home as much water. There are a few other things you could try but that would be the easiest and quickest.

Sounds ideal - I'll have to try this next canister clean.
