I am bias toward the bamboo shrimp for your set-up since I bought one about 4 months ago and they get fairly large mine is about 5 inches long so most fish will not think they are food plus they stay out in the open all the time where some of the smaller shrimp like cherry shrimp seem to hide in your plants allot

I would say the larger ones would be safe. I had a couple for a while before the power outage and no one ever bother them.
