Hi everyone! I have a 20 gal long for a mudskipper and I am using 2 plastic containers as platforms for my mudskippers. I heard plastic can hurt fish but I am not sure if that is true or not.

It this true? If so how can I make another platform for my mudskippers?

Thanks!

Most plastic is fine. A filter case is plastic, pick up tubes, fake plants, etc, etc. It is the silicone that is used on the plastic that can be deadly to fish.

But they do make aquarium safe silicone.

100% Silicon is safe for aquariums.

If you have microwave/dishwasher safe and BPA free Tupperware, then it will be fine. There is always the chance of leaching if it is something else. Even storing your food in the fridge in tupperware that is not safe for sometime can allow leaching.

What about a plastic cookie dough container? And what about a 1 and a half leader betta fish aquarium?

Thanks!
