i honestly have no idea how he even managed that those pumps are pretty powerful and some how he got his head stuck

I'd say the fish was already dead or very sick, then got stuck. A healthy fish usually won't get stuck in a filter.

he wasnt stuck in the filter he was stuck in the pump head
Chances are more that the fish died prior to being sucked into the pump head. And the death could be due to the fact that the tank is not cycled. As pointed out in earlier postss, do a 50% wc on a daily basis till your tank is fully cycled. Also, keep checking your water params. Do you have a test kit?
