Yellow lab ID?

So I've had this guy for a week now, he is fed a cichlid mix, he was in with other malawis and is quite timid. After I got him home (he was still in the bag) his colours brightened up... He must've not liked those malawis! Once in the tank he began showing zebra markings on his side (see picture below). He's only around 2 inches at the moment so I'm not too sure about gender (he's my first yellow lab), I was curious to as if he was a zebra cross? Thanks for reading guys , the picture shows him stealing an algae pellet from the other bottom dwellers

I think hes just stressed.... And as for gender im thinking male...

Actually from my knowledge the female has the black pigment on the top dorsal fin. I have 2 yellows one male and one female and the male is larger with no black

No males have black on there bottum fins and females dont
