I have 3 platy's in a 10 gallon tank. I have a neighbor that would like the fry and I would like some live plants rather than plastic...

Anyone have some plants for a 10 gallon?

Any suggestions?

Java ferns are good for that small of a tank. What wattage and type of bulb are you using? That makes all the difference. You don't want plants that grow real tall.

I am going to have to get a different light, I currently have the normal light.

Won't java fern grow like crazy? Any way to keep it in check?

Thanks!

It depends on all the conditions whether java ferns grow slowly or quickly. Mine are in too bright of a light so they're rather slow. My neighbor has his in lower lighting and he has to trim his back every six weeks and plants the offsprings.

How about Cabomba caroliniana? That is a hardy plant that needs very low light. You often see it in goldfish bowls.
