One of my red cherry shrimp molted and the shell is laying on my gravel! What will happen to the shrimp, why did it molt? Should I remove the shell thing?

It is a good sign if they are molting, you should leave the shell in the tank because they eat it and get some nutrients out of it.:) good luck, cherry shrimp are great

The shrimp grow inside their exoskeleton, but the exoskeleton doesn't grow with them. So they pop out of it and grow a new one that will fit over their bigger body until they grow bigger and need to molt again. I have about twenty cherry shrimp, and there are almost always little whitish molted shells sitting around the tank. I've never actually seen the shrimp eat them, but they disappear after a few days.
