Hey all,

I am in the process of setting up/re-scaping a crystal red tank and was wondering whether to use ferts in my tank. Specifically, is there any issue with using root tabs and/or Flourish Excel?

I'm re-scaping because of a MASSIVE problem with hair algae that i've been having. Been thinking that maybe better plant growth will cut that back a bit. Also, any light recommendations for plant growth? My current light isn't great and I really want to throw it out and get a new one :)

Plants I'm thinking about are as follows:
(made sure to not include plants with CO2 requirement)
Dwarf Sagittaria
Giant Baby Tears
Red root floaters
Anubias nana
Dwarf hairgrass

You aware that excel isnt fertiliser. Its a mild algaecide that helps keeps leafs a little cleaner enabling them to better take up CO2 from the water.

Thanks for the thread link. Checked it out and it seems really helpful.
Any recommendations on good lights for plants?
