Inverts with dwarf cichlids?

Just wondering if their are any inverts that could live with a pair of keyhole concludes, been looking at armoured shrimps, dwarf crayfish (the lfs guy says the max out at 2inches) and a few types of crabs though I do not know whether they can survive in freshwater comfortably.

I'm guessing snails are out of the question unless I want a feeding frenzy.

Any advice would be welcome

I have a crayfish in my African cichlid tank and he does fine. Haven't eaten him yet.
