Keeping shrimp

I have a 20g planted tank with corys and tetra. I would like to add some shrimp but didn't know if I should or if my filter intakes would be an issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would assume with a 20g that you have a hang on the back filter. If so you could put a sponge filter on the intake.

I Have a 10g HOB with ghost shrimp, no sponge filter( all is good). If they had babies I would definitely put a sponge filter over the intake.
