Magically appearing shrimp?

Hi folks! This probably sounds a bit far-fetched, but am hoping you can help me solve a mystery. I have had an Amano shrimp for about a year and a half in my community tank. I didn’t see it for about two weeks and was sad - I thought he had passed away. But then! I saw him again, and he was with a tiny (half his size) shrimp - same type. Any clue as to how this could be?

By the way, I used “him” but I don’t really know if it’s male or female.
