I'm not an expert on mystery snails but I've had a few and I've never seen this before. Can someone tell me what it is? Is this normal? ImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1417887646.140782.jpg

I forgot what that is called but yes it's normal

Yeah it's normal, it's used for breathing.

55 gallon elephant nose tank
16 gallon Giant African shrimp tank

Okay cool, for a minute there I thought aliens were invading my fish tank.

yes its an external lung they will use when they reach the peak of the tank for breathing external air. Mine uses it every now and then. Maybe check your water perimeters if its doing it a lot to be sure the water is conducive enough for it to breath unsurfaced

Okay thanks, I saw this just before my weekly water change so hope fully if there was a problem with my water it's better now.
