Maxime made an escape attempt!

I made a patch with boiled eggshell membrane. He's currently weakly hanging on inside a baby saver net.

We're all very worried and sad.

He's all personality. He's a tenacious em effer, so we'll do what we can.

Although after finally bringing the tank closer to neutral after inexplicably hard, alkaline water, my husband crushed an eggshell in the tank.

He's just hanging out, siphon up. We know he can get in and out of this net, but it's soft and small until he's ready.

I'd try cutting a ping pong ball and crazy glue a patch , just may save him,

He's not back to parasnailing, but he's cruising!

I've tried to take him out to trim excess "bandage," but he will not be moved. He doesn't know that I'm trying to help or that the pain I've caused him has encouraged his healing. So he just has eggshell membrane trails.

Maxime started floating, weakly reaching for the aquarium wall. I took him out to see just how alive he is, and I was able to get all of the stringy bits of the "bandage" off. The remainder came off very easily, so he's back to his own shell.

It's not pretty. It smells fine, though, and it very firm. I wonder if it's a callous or scar tissue.

He's in a plastic cup right now, practically screaming expletives at me.

He's in the 10 gallon now with Mama Guppy. I can use the Melafix and make the water very hard there.
