hello,

ok so, I got three amano shrimps in my 46 gallon community tank, two of the female are pregnant. i can see the grayish eggs on their legs. I know the larvae only survive in saltwater. my question is when all the larvae shrimp die, will it give me an ammonia spike or mess up my balance?

No, in fact I think they can only be fertilized in freshwater.. Plus shrimp have a low bioload (and don't pollute much when dead) and I'm sure your other fish will enjoy eating the larva. You should be good. :)

You should be good. The other fish will quickly clean up the larvae. Plus the ones that don't get eaten will probably get eaten by the amanos themselves once they die. You will most likely not spike as shrimp are pretty low bioload (and dont produce much waste while decomposing) as well.

Best of luck, - Raymond

Agree. My amano are regularly have eggs. No spikes.
