Show off your shrimp tank!

Hi all. I just started up a shrimp tank on Sunday. I want to see YOUR shrimp tank for inspiration on aquascaping! Also, tell us about your shrimp tank! (lighting, filtration, inhabitants, plants, etc.)

Here's my 6.6gal RCS tank. Anubias, a Java Fern and some Java Moss are the plants. Stones are from upstate NY during vacation .. Pink /red colored granitic rocks. I actually just added some Petco Black sand to give the substrate a more salt and pepper look ... more emphasis on the pepper part.

Thank you! I'm satisfied with how it's come out .. I may add another plant or two.

I agree ... I measured the LXWXH and got around 8 gallons ... but the box says 6.6gal. It's the Petco Bookshelf aquarium. Maybe they estimate 6.6gal of with substrate and decor added? The mangrove root background is what really adds to the look.

Hopefully others will post their shrimp thanks that made me jealous .. put mine to shame. BUT no worries! I have a 20gal long in storage on standby!

Here is my custom Xbox shrimp/snail tank... Still working on new lights now so this picture in not 100% recent... And no real livestock except a (half-a-pea sized) mystery snail and it's micro-sized baby about1.2 gallon
... the acrylic tank is 100 percent custom built and the Xbox was my old Xbox that I gutted
RCS and assassin snails is the livestock I want and it's a live plant and a powerhead in it...

Nice tanks guys! I have a shrimp tank I tore down, then re-set-up and got new stuff for it. Just set it up today. I'll get pics up ASAP.

Well, lo and behold, here it is.....looks kinda tacky right now with the big filters and such, but I think that over time, when the plants grown and fill in, it will look better.....

The particulars:

Lighting: Not exactly sure about lighting, but the wattage adds up to 25 watts. It's a dual-bulb fixture.

Filtration: I am running two filters - Tetra Whisper 2-10i internal filter (85 gph) and an ATI hydro sponge filter #3.

Plants: Large amount of hornwort, a couple stems of anacharis, some guppy grass strewn around the tank, 2 Java Ferns, 1 small portion of Java Moss, 1 small portion of Mini Christmas Moss, a decent amount of Frogbit and Red-Root floaters.

Inhabitants: I bought 12 painted fire red shrimp to start off with, and two came berried. One is already giving birth, she has given birth to at least 7 shrimplets already .

Now, the pictures

Full tank shot:

From left to right: Guppy Grass, Mini Christmas Moss, Anacharis

Frogbit

And some of the shrimp

Thanks!

Rams will not only thin the herd, they will basically demolish the herd. They can be kept with larger shrimp such as amanos or bamboo shrimp, but dwarf shrimp like RCS is a no-no. The ram will quickly gobble them up. A good way to get rid of some shrimp is by selling them. Not only will it thin the herd, it will get you a bit of money
