Hi, i noticed one of my vampire shrimp had a open gap on his side haven't a clue what he's done! He molted a couple of days ago and I was hoping it was just his shell but the opening is still there? It looks like a injury. Is there anything I can add to the water for him to help him heal? Or will it just heal itself? He's still eating and moving about so it's not affecting him. My parameters are ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 5. I've tried getting a picture but he legs it when I get near with my camera. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I've had bamboo shrimp in the past with this same problem. It looked as if someone took a crowbar to his shell and ripped it open, most likely due to an unsuccessful molt. He died a few days later. I did not and still do not know how I could have helped him in anyway.

I've checked him this morning and the gap is starting to close up so he seems to be healing fine.
