Hey guys I got a used 20 gallon for $4 last Sunday, we are running a leak test on it as it doesn't have a bottom trim. But I was wondering what your stocking suggestions would be? I was thinking of hillstream loaches, and I'd be willing to install a powerhead for them. Any ideas?

Hillstream loaches are AWESOME. Get some brookstream loaches too!

Go big or go home, set up a river manifold! This is my go-to design for loach tanks.
River-Tank Manifold Design — Loaches Online
That design gets you a strong one-way flow in the tank which is perfect for them.

Temperature should ideally be around 70 degrees. You can populate the upper water column with white clouds. You want to have a lot of rocks and not a lot of plants- mostly mosses and stuff that can cling hard to rocks with getting blown away in the current.

Here's another great article on them: Hillstream Loaches - The Specialists at Life In The Fast Lane — Loaches Online

I know it's not a hillstream loach but an awesome thing would be 4 or 5 sinibotia (sinibotia sp., anything except sinibotia robusta). They are my absolute FAVORITE fish, incredibly hard to find but BEYOND worth it for how fun they are. Very active, darty, full of spunk and personality.

I think I have a good stocking plan, 4 hillstream loaches, and 30 CPDs
