Anchor worms help

We adopted a sad beat up large Oranda from our local big box store. He had an open sore on his back hence why the free adoption. 2 days ago I saw the 1st anchor worm pop out. We added microbe lift to the tank the next day. Today he is covered in them probably at least a dozen. I have ordered a ultraviolet light to add to the filter To kill the juveniles. I have never handled any of my fish. Need some advice on removing the adults it sounds like that is my best avenue to try to get ahead of this? Also is there any issue with me adding melafix because of the open source this is going to leave behind? The micro-lift is a 3 week treatment. He's in a 10 gallon hospital tank but even so I'm having to change 2 and a 1/2 gallons in the morning and at night and add back the same amount of medication each time.
