Hey I've got plans for a small box turtle habit with a pond, a large tube sunk in the ground, fake grass, sod, a bush, mulch, and pebbles. Dose anyone know any small turtles to put in the 20 gallon pond that would live with the box?

Red ear sliders or eastern painteds do well. I have kept many turtles but eventually the get too large and I release them into the city parks pond. Also, I have had issues with raccoons eating my turtles. so watch for predators.

I'd be scarred if coon ate my pet!

I would just like to emphasize that only species native to your area can be released :)

These species of turtle are all 3 found all over south Texas. And **** those racoons. A friend lost a cockatiel to them. No outside bird cages lol

I'm fairly certain you're correct. Wildlife specialists need a permit to release native species, so I suspect non-specialists probably shouldn't release them at all.
