Sand filter advice for 3000 gal pond?
I am in the process of rebuilding our pond to iclude a second watering hole and creek. This will bring the total water volume to a little over 3000 gal. I know my current biofilter will not be sufficent to acomadate the volume so I am thinks of putting in a sand filter with a bigger pump. Looking at a 150 pound filter with a 3/4 horse motor pushing 50 gpm. That would circulate the water once per hour. Is this an over kill, just right, or not enough?
I usaually set up my tanks to turn at least once per 2 hours. Just courious about doing that for a smaller pond.
