What to Do with all the dirt?

In your experience with building ponds, what did everyone do with the tons of dirt?

Depends what sort of dirt it is. I used it to build a landscaped area around my pond.

And then some. Actually and then lots. Look in my gallery to see the built up area around the pond.

You can use it for a waterfall, holes that need filling in your yard, etc etc.

We have an alley behind our house so we just dumped it in some low spots there.

I am SOOO glad I kept it! Just made a big mound in back of my shed. In the years since, I have needed dirt in a number of places, so it came in handy. If you have the space, keep the dirt. Trust me, it will come in handy sooner or later.
