African dwarf frogs and Pom pom crabs - Coexist?

I currently have two ADFs & am considering adding a Pom Pom crab. They are very small as opposed to the other freshwater crab species. I don’t think my four juvenile silver dollars will harm it, as the silver dollars are the largest of the 75 gallon tank. I have spaces for hiding.

Another question: I recently purchased a medium size of aquatic driftwood from a Petco’s aquarium. If it is cured, why am I still getting that yellow tinted water? (Tarrins)?

Because the curing process involved before selling wood will have consisted of drying the wood which wont do anything to remove tannins.

You either need to let the tannins naturally soak out which could take months, or you could boil it out. Activated carbon in the filter should soak up the tannins and give you clearer water.

The driftwood piece was in Petco’s aquarium soaking for God knows how long before I purchased it.I thought about boiling it, but then I thought I could probably use the beneficial bacteria while my nitrogen cycle is trying to establish and did want to boil that part out. But next time I buy aquarium soaked driftwood, I’ll boil it.

Good idea about the BB on the DW, might be a small amount, but could help a little.

I posted a response from your photo / album pic comment re the Pom Pom crab.

These FW Poms might be too small and become a snack for the Silver Dollars when they grow.

Also more FW Pom crab info in the description.
