1st week of cycling

We have started the cycling process on the 6th and started testing the water on the 10th readings are salt is at 1.020, ph is 8.0, ammonia was 0.50 now .025 nitrite are now 2 and nitrates are at 80 . It is a 55 gallon tank, used a raw shrimp 3 days ago took it out Last night I can see some green on the rocks now furry a bit, there is no fish no plants just rock crushed coral , is this sounding right or should I be changing water already

Just let it go till it cycles. Then you can change some water. We have an excellent article about cycling in our SW articles section. Check it out.

You can view many of my fish and corals in my photo albums in my profile.

Keep the lights off. Algae wonít grow without a light source. Then you can cycle in peace.
