I have a 75 gal fresh right now that in the next few months I am going to convert to a salt water tank. I have a Fluval 307 running the tank right now and it is perfect for my fresh water setup. As I understand it, I will need more flow with a fresh water tank, especially if I hope to add corals at some point. Would the 307 provide enough filtration with live rock so that I could supplement flow with a wave maker or power head?

The flow from things like that are minimal at best. You want to aim anywhere between 10-50x turnover of the water column in a reef tank, depending on the type of coral being kept. Two or more powerheads will do this perfectly. I'd also suggest replacing a canister for a nice protein skimmer.
