So here is my basic rockscape for now, all corals and fish are now in. So far I like it, I especially like the lower little shelf in the back middle where my candy cane is.

Well for anyone following here is a pic as of now. This is how my rock scape turned out and I think it looks awesome. No offense but that's what matters being my tank and all lol. So far the new fish have acclimated well. The engineer is busy in the sand and the wrasse is swimming about looking awesome. My orange spot goby is happy churning the sand and my other fish are content to chill and wait for food. The seahare I got when I first picked up the new tank has done a huge number on the red hair algae which will hopefully be aided by the addition of some chaeto this weekend.

Almost forgot the pics lol.

Well it's been a while since I've updated so here is the goings on. All fish and corals are looking good, even found my engineer goby after he went AWOL for 2 weeks. I am currently working on my sump. A standard 10g tank end fits perfectly inside a 55g so I don't need to get baffles cut. The sump will have a large refugium. I am also in the process of getting led lights. My man frank is hooking me up with some Pharos LEDs which look awesome so I'm pumped to get those installed. Ill throw some pics up later as I'm at the inlaws for Easter.

Here's some pics I took, including one of my engineer goby.

Well I've got my 55g converted into a sump. It turned out pretty sweet and I was even able to come up with an idea to mount my ATO floats in the return chamber. The diffuser in the skimmer chamber is there to cut down the water noise from the hang on skimmer. That will hopefully be replaced soon but I'm at odds of what skimmer I want there are so many options. I am also just waiting for PayPal to transfer my funds so I can order my new Pharos led lights. I am stoked to get those suckers hung!!!!!!!! I also threw in a FTS, I love the aquascape. I am likely going to be removing some coral to my father in laws tank once the new lights come in, he is going to be using my 6x54w t5ho fixture till he gets LEDs if he does. My torch coral just split which means its now at 6 heads (started at 3 heads) my candycane is over 20 heads (also started at 3 heads) a bunch of my other corals have grown loads also but I'm hoping my sps take off under the new lights.

I also gave my powerheads a vinegar bath tonight and wow does that ever work!!!!! They look brand new.

Well just got home from another week away at work and I lost alot of coral. All my sps are toast as is my green with purple tip frogspawn. I think my candycane may kick it to but it's still hanging on as is my torch. I suspect it was from the sand in the sump, it was the sand in my 55g. I rinsed it good but apparently not good enough- insert profanity here. It was a gamble and i crashed and burned hard on it, the drawbacks of only having two days to do things- causes you to break the cardinal reef rule and rush things. On a plus note that gives me to room and purpose to buy the orange torch coral I have coveted ever since I first saw one. Plus I can replace my sps with some nicer ones. Water change is brewing as we speak so hopefully that will help. All my fish and inverts seem fine. Thank god I only have one more week on the road.

That's a bummer. Ive heard about the risks of reusing sand but never understood why. You're definitely right about rushing things- it never works out well.

Well I just got back from the city and picked up some stuff. I got some new snails (Astraea, nassarius, and a strawberry turbo) a couple blue leg hermits. I also got some copepods and phyto. My tank seems to be stabilizing after a couple water changes so I figure I should rebuild my CUC. With the crash I had my inverts were all ok so adding some more shouldn't have a big impact on bioload and should help clean up the algae bloom I'm now staring at. Diffinately kicking myself in the butt, all algae was in check and everything was looking awesome, growing awesome and I done gone and blew it.

Well I ordered my lights last night along with a few other things. I also ordered a refractometer, media reactors, carbon and GFO, filter sock holder and socks and a check valve for my return line. I'm stoked, and who said Christmas comes but once a year?

Alright, well got the lights hung and man they are awesome. So should have just got LEDs in the beginning. Thanks to my man Frank for hooking me up. The color of everything (what's left that is) is amazing and the shimmer effect is hypnotic. Ill post here in a few. I also got my reactors in, got them setup and running now just waiting for my sock holder and socks.

Here's an FTS, I have a video also ill post via YouTube.

Did you see that reefs2go started liverock2go? Deals looked solid starting out. Some nice Caribbean rock would finish that scape off so you can have a ton of overhangs and caves.

Maybe in time ill add rock, for now I'm happy with it. Just need to replace my corals and fish.

Here is a video I took that shows the lights and sump. Also shows my phyto culture I started.
