A couple questions

what is FOWLER?

Do I really need a protein skimmer?

My live rock is growing stuff...do I need to feed it? Mushroom and buds...sprouting right now and I can't quite tell what they are, but they're budding.

FOWLR is Fish Only with Live Rock. Take some pictures of what is growing on your rock and post them here so we can see. Some stuff is good others stuff isn't.

They're still so small I don't think it'd show, but I'll try when I get home.

There's one mushroom, a couple mini hydroid looking things, some brown bulb spores, and a couple red buds.

hydroids u don't want, oddly enough my emerald crabs eat the **** out of it. Almost anything hitchhiking in has something that will eat it & most things that eat hitchhikers should b part of ur cleanup crew anyway (unless ur doing a predator tank)

& if the 1st pic is pic of ur set up then u might want to set up ur LR so that ur fish can swim threw it & water can pass threw gaps, seems kinda packed together. Could b angle tho
