About how many pounds of sand for 55 gal?

I bought a 50# bag to start my new 55 gal but it seems I'll need more. Anybody have an estimate, in pounds, of about how munch is needed?

I understand that once I put it in the tank I'll know, but I thought I could save myself another trip to the LFS if I know before hand. TIA all.

i used 60 pounds in my 55...

I would say go about 70.

I used 50# coral sand and one 25# bag of live sand and it looks very good.

Alot has to do with the desired depth. Also note the calculator is to provide you with a rough estimate. Depending on your sand if its dry or wet or how large and dense the particles are will govern how accurate the calc.
