My 27 tank is towards the end of the cycle
Nitrites are high
and nitrates are beginning to appear
I have a 10 gallon diy sump/refugium that i want to connect to my main tank
how should i go about this
can i just connect it to my tank and thats it?:ermm:

You have to have a way to get water to it from the tank and a powerhead in it to return the water from sump back to tank. After you get it up an running there are many different ways to utilize your sump.

I got an overflow box on the way and im going to buy a return pump.
I was just wondering if it will affect the cycle of my tank or have any type of effect since i am going to add some live sand and macro-algae to the refugium

All I have running now is my HOB power filter but im just using that to circulate the water
When should i connect my sump refugium to my tank?
After its fully cycled?
And when should i begin to run my protein skimmer?

So on the day that i had some fish i connect my sump and begin running my protein skimmer?
And im looking into buying a reef light from somebody on craigslist but it doesnt bring a fan
Will it be fine if it doesnt have a fan?
