I am looking into making a an aggressive 20 gallon tank with only one fish like a dwarf lionfish or something along those lines

Anglers are pretty cool, I've always been interested my self. I wouldn't add any thing with the hawk that can fit in a 20 eithet

Do hawk fish swim around a lot or just stay hidden or at the bottom

Haha I've just always liked anglers, just don't have a tank for one. But yeah a falco hawk could work as well. The angler would be species only.

What kind and how active are they i would assume they are not active though

You don't really want an active fish because the tank is to small. The fact that most of these fish are perchers not open swimmers is what makes them possible for you

Painteds stay relatively small. You will need to keep up on wc as they're very messy

Could a fuzzy dwarf lionfish live in a 20
Dwarf lions are given that name because they don't get quite as large as a volitan. They do get to be almost volleyball sized however. Imagine a volleyball in a 20 gallon tank.

Anglers, stonefish, things like that that don't swim much, or at all, will work.
