Algae

I have alot of algae in my 75 tank. I have a coralife 300watt power compact light that is on around 11 hours daily. Is this the cause of the algae or what? What can i do to make my tank look better?

Unwanted algae is generally a product of excess nutrients in the water. Mainly PO4 is a large contributer. I suggest testing for PO4 and begin a frequent water change schedule using RO/DI water. Can you desribe the algae or provide a pic?
