I just read the article about the Berlin Method. Do reef-keepers still go that way? I'm setting up new 100-gallon tank.

Yes. It is still a reliable method that is used to this day. I'm not aware of any methods of moving water from a display to a tank that has been declared as an 'old' or 'bad' way of doing it.
