Brown algae break out

Or starters I'm new to the saltwater tank set up. I have a forty gallon breeder with a twenty gallon sump. I've had the system running for a little over three weeks now and have noticed over the last two days my tank has exploded with brown algae. Ive been working closely with my lfs and he has told me not to do anymore water changes for awhile, (trying to get the tank to completely cycle). But unfortunately I'm a little OCD and can't stand the look of it I want to clean it out really bad. Is there anything I could do to speed up the algae bloom?
