Many do 55 for 125/150. If you can do a 90 that should work

What, oh, sure it is. I have a 38G as my DT, and only a 10G sump. I have chaeto in it. I have it separated with plexi-glass. Well not so much chaeto any more, I had a couple pieces of grape caulerpa in it that took over.

I hear it's good in helping to maintain nitrates n phos at minimum so wanted to have it in my sump but was told not to get it cause sump was too small

Let me make sure I have this correct first. You have a 220G display tank with a 40G sump underneath it. Who told you that a 40G sump was too small for chaeto? Is your sump installed, if so how is your sump setup, what is currently in it? A picture would help as well.

Wow, you have that thing full. I've never used "chemi pure n purigen" myself. How you have it setup now, there really isn't a whole lot of open space is there? Do you have a side view pic and how about a picture of the DT as well.

Do they sell the chaeto or will they give you some? My LFS gave me a small clump to try out and see how it works in my tank. It grew a lot and I had to keep throwing it out to export the nutrients. I really can't tell from the pics how much open space you have, but my suggestion is (assuming you have a light on there, mine is just a flourescent that I turn on at night and off during the day) is find an open spot and try it out. I'd rather use a macro-algae then some type of chemical or bead.
PS: have you posted any closeups of your tank in any other posts? would like to see it, very nice tank!

I think I can squeeze it in there... Maybe make small acrylic box like 6x8
LFS sell chaeto 15.00 per bunch. Which would be enough
