Chaeto help!

My chaeto is turning a white color and breaking apart. Anyone know why this could be? My nitrates or trites can't remember are a little high so I'm confused to why it would be dying off.

Where is it in the tank? What kind of tank? I've Read up on it and had given advice to another member on the forum and he's having great success now. He added a air pump and just ran the air line into his fuge. Now it's growing very well and came back from the dead. You could try that.

It was in my wet/dry filter just before the pump in a egg crate box I made. I'll try doing that too
