cleaning live rock????

I was wondering if you had to clean live rock??? I seen this guy at my LFS and he was scrubbing the rock with a brush....OK why and how often is this done????

You can scrub dead material off LR with a toothbrush, it works pretty good. Normally you would only need to do this when you first get LR and it had something dead hanging off it...

Yes, cleaning is really only needed when you by uncured LR. Scrubbing off some of the dead stuff can help keep ammonia down when you add it to the tank. Other then that, I "dust" mine the tank to get sand off every now and again.

Easiest way is to use a turkey baster.

Ya the rock was probably some new stuff they just got in.
