hey all,
i m planning a behind tank refugium. I was planning that i would siphon water out from the tank and just pump it back via a pump. The siphon would not be controlled, but the pump would. A Rio 1100 provides about 320 GPH. Is the pump compatible with 3/4" vinyl tubing drain?

Drill a small hole right below the water line so if the pump fails it will break suction and not overflow your refugium.

You need a overflow box... There is no cheap safe way to get around some things. Some DIY may work for a time but when you come home to a flood and hours and hours of cleaning and a dead tank you will wish you spent that $70 on a over flow box... JMO
