Here is my question. How do you maintain the same water level in your sump when the filter sock gets dirty. When I change the sock to a clean sock the water level in my sump goes up and I would believe that the salinity goes down. When you plumb the tank drain the pvc is below the top of the filter by a few inches should I shortin the drain or is this a common problem.

There's less water in the sock due to less resistance needed for the water to pass through a clean sock compared to a dirty one. It's not going to affect your salinity at all.

Just clean the socks out more often and you won't see that.

I understand that but when the ATO makes up the difference I can't see how it wouldn't.

How much water are we talking about here?

How big of a sump?
How big of a tank?
How many inches does the water level rise?
