First go at a saltwater

Hi all

First go at saltwater tank for either a lionfish or a puffer im undecided yet its mixed 50/50 with live rock and base rock iv been dosing ammonia the cycle is almost done just wondering what peoples thoughts are on it and i its better suited to a lion or a puffer here are the pictures go easy on me

Looks good! How big is it? Have you thought about dwarf lion and AND a puffer?

If you're not doing coral go puffer and a dwarf lion for sure!

Im not doing corals iv got another tank cycling that will be a reef, i have thought about a puffer and a dwarf but i really want a big lion if any i may just have to do the dwarf and lion though because i really want a puffer too

Just on another note has anyone had any experience with the api saltwater test? I have done 4 ammonia test all at the same time from the same water and got 4 result from 0-8 i will attach a picture for reference, it just doesn't seem consistent

I use API tests kits and have never seen any of those colours before! They are all for amm? What are you using for the cycle?

Yep all ammonia and its a new quarantine tank that has fish in cycling it while im doing big water changes everyday

Seems weird. Have you tried taking your water to your LFS and have them test?
