Fishless Cycle question

Ok I'm only like 2 in. Just added my live sand. Think I need more...but will wait until it settles and see where I am at.

I intend to start with Cuc after c lr but if your leaving for a good while may just stick with the dead shrimp to keep ammonia

I've thought about this. I can do both. I know how much shrimp seems to keep my cycle going so I could add a few critters over the next three weeks before I leave and balance the chemistry. Then just have my feeding sitter check salinity and do a simple test or two. Tank won't be alone just not under my intense care... Lol

Then I'll be ready for fish when I get back.

My only concern. Is there enough to eat for a CUC now? Do need to add some food source for them?

Well typically they eat algae and leftovers....so if put not feeding fish there might not be...

Maybe have your sitter do a few pinches of food
