is it true live rock is the filter and u just need to take out filter and just have a wave maker in there instead. its like I got the very basis of heater, tank but need to add live rock. I see they sell corals and live rocks at aquatics and the fish are really expensive some at 80pounds its like u can go from your basic tropical setup to marine quite easily, is it as easy as it seems?

Its 'kind of" that easy. You can have a functional tank if you look at it like that, but there's soo much more that you can learn that wi give you a truly successful tank.

As for the basics, yes. Its just like a regular aquarium in most regards. The live rock acts as the biological filtration and powerheads provide the flow.
