How do I remove crushed coral and add sand?

I have CC as my substrate in my SW tank. After reading all the aritcles and post about Aragonite sand, i'm leaning towards replacing the CC with sand. How would I go about doing this ?? Would I have to start over as in pull all the water/LR out of the tank then the CC ?? Or could I scoop out the CC and pour the sand in ???

I had CC in my 12 gallon nano and I liked the look of it. But the thought of vacuuming the CC drives me crazy already !!

I have yet to put fish in the tank because i'm almost quadruple checking my test results. I've had it up and running for about a month and a half now.
