I found a guy selling 2 Avast Marine MR5 Reactors.
They're 18" tall and 5X5" so they'd be perfect in a little section of my sump, or one would.

They are $50 each.
Should I get 1 or 2 or should I even get one?

What are the true benefits of a media reactor?

Also he's selling a Turboflotor 1000 protein skimmer w/ pump for $50.

Is this a good skimmer?
It retails for like $175 without pump and is rated up to 250 gallons

I'd be using these on a 40 gallon breeder reef/ fish aquarium. In a 20 gallon sump.

Sounds expensive. 2 little fishies reactors are 40 bucks each, brand new.
Media, like carbon or GFO hardly do anything just sitting in a bag in the sump. They are 100 times more efficient when water is forced through it. That's what a media reactor does. It's just a container hooked to a small pump that forces water through whatever is in it.

The turbofloater skimmer isn't a bad deal. They are a pain to get dialed in, but work ok once that's accomplished.
