Congrats bro sounds like it's really starting to come together!

Thanks! Hopefully it all comes together somewhat as planned lol.

Yeah Greg sometimes the design & build is as much fun as the reef keeping. Still working on exactly how I will plumb it. I did finally choose a pump & went with the Dolphin Amp Master pump. We will see how that works out.

Few pics of the work in progress

Pretty easy to see who's the boss on this job. Now here's a little boy who's going to live his Nemo fantasy.

He sure does some funny stuff for a three year old. Two weeks ago when Momma was asking him where the lid was for his sippy cup he replied
"Momma look with your eyes, not with your mouth!"

My son grew up with this reef, he's 24 now. First thing he did when he left home was build his own reef. Didn't show much interest when he was little, but it became part of his life anyway.

That's awesome. I hope I influence my step son in the same way. He's four right now, and he loves our tanks. He just told me last night that all the fish died at his dads house(apparently he went out and got a tank too.) I told him to let his dad know next time that I'll come over and help out with the fish/tank... ;)

Got my skimmer yesterday and assembled it. Can't wait to fire this big boy up! Stands 60" tall.

*edit......couple more shots of the boss....

She's a brontosaurus for sure. ,... Hopefully it'll work as well as its little brother that I have ... Did you buy the overflow resoviour that attaches via a hose to your collection cup ,.(it shuts off your skimmer in case of a skimmer overflow )
I bought one for mine and it's worth every penny if nothing more than a piece of mind,...it looks like you guys have come a long way in the last week or so

No I did not order the collection cup. I haven't decided if I'm going to add a float I already have and use it to make my own auto shut off or not. I may use that float on something else though. I have so many loose ends to think about that has been an afterthought truthfully lol. Kinda wish now I had thought about it and ordered it at the same time though.

Have you considered running the store using a controller? Then a simple float switch on the skimmer could control its pump easily. Also give you graphs of water quality. That feature alone has been valuable to me.

Yes I have considered it. I'm not sure what would be the best choice though. Any suggestions are welcomed. I do have a skimmer running currently that I put a float switch in the collection cup so if it overskims it cuts off the feed pump and had worker fine. I may do that as a quick fix for now but that only works on one skimmer & I will have four skimmers (including that brontosaurus!) running to start with.

So more slow progress lol. Got the main fish tank banks done. Just started drilling all tanks for bulkheads. Got all stands within finishing touches of being done. Wish I had bought prebuilt for the 180 as I got behind & went too fast so it didn't come out near as nice as I would have liked. Tested the storage tanks after installing the bulkheads on those & man filling & draining 600 gallons takes a while lol. Ordered all my plumbing materials today so hopefully this weekend starts the plumbing of it all. Oh ya, mounted a sign outside, nothin fancy but its a start.
