Ok im sure this ones on here some where but, is live rock considered live rock when its got bacteria that helps break down unwanted toxins or is it live only when coraline algae starts growing on it? Also will corals (like the toadstool) attach to live rock that has no coraline algae (did i spell coraline right?)

Thanks for the information i was wondering when to consider my base rock as being live now i know its been more than 5 months so it must be live even though the coraline algae has not yet spread to the base rock

If base rock is put in a tank that has live rock it should be live in a week or 2. 5 months in your rock is very much live regardless of the growth on it.
