Live Rock / Dead Rock

Have a six month old 90 gallon tank with about 60lbs of rock. Various softies and fish in tank now. I need to add some more rock and wanted to know if I can just add some "dead" rock right to the tank or do I need to do something to it?

You can add just some dry base rock with just rinsing it off quick.
