Mike's Algae Powered Reef Build

Hello everyone. Finally have the last pieces of equipment on order so I figured it was time to start a thread. I have been wanting to build an angler reef since earlier this year and I'm very excited to get this tank done. It's a 40b with a DIY stand and canopy. I'm going to paint the back glass black on this one which I hope to get done tomorrow. Now the fun part filtration . A CPR cs90 overflow and a mag 7 pump is in shipping and should be here tuesday . The only filtration on this tank will be a 5x5 algae turf scrubber .No skimmer , reactor or any of that stuff.I made the scrubber after work today so once everything gets here I hope to have all the plumbing done by the the end of next weekend. Lighting is 55 3 watt dimmable taotronic panel that will be mounted in the canopy. Here are pics of the scrubber , stand frame, and lights.

Well wasn't in the mood for painting today so I mounted the scrubber pipes and mounted the scrubber lights as well. All that's left is plumbing a straight pipe from the return pump to the plumbing union already installed and plumb the overflow box and make the emergency drain so if the scrubber screen clogs. It's probably not needed but I rather be safe then sorry. Here are some pics.

Awesome! I'd love to see how this turns out. What type of angler are you thinking of getting?

I'm set on a striated angler. Second choice is a all black angler.

Wow the striated angler gets 8" and the black gets 10"! I'd be scared to come up to that fish after years of keeping it . Not really, but they are the larger types of anglers. Good choices. I personally love the Yellow/Maroon Wartskin Anglers. I want to have an angler tank in the future, so I'd be interested in watching your experience!

The overflow , return pump and loc line pieces for the return. I have everything else I need in my box o fish stuff. I'll be stuck soon since it is taking a while to get the free materials to finish the stand and canopy. I'll technically be able to fill and start the cycle tomorrow night but I'm going to wait until it's all nice and fancy looking lol.

Need a few more parts to connect the scrubber but the emergency drain is done and cemented in as well as the return pump. Has anyone painted their PVC pipes before? If so what kind of paint did you use? Thanks.
